Captured by me – Bowen de l’Ile Romande our first Barbet
The Barbet is a friendly French water dog first bred to retrieve birds from water. It has a curly, woolly coat that protects it from cold and wet weather, and webbed feet that make it a great swimmer. Barbets are smart, gentle, and easy to train, good both for work and as family pets.
They usually are about 53–65 cm (21–26 in) tall and weigh 20–30 kg (45–65 lb). Their coats can be black, brown, or fawn, often with more or less white. This breed is known for being loyal, playful, and allways full of joyful energy.

Bowen was our first dog and the one who started it all. With his kind nature, intelligence, and joyful spirit, he inspired our deep love for dogs and the life we live with them today. His spirit continues to be a part of everything we do for the Barbet breed.
Malou showed us the meaning of true working drive. She loved to work, always eager to please and very obedient. Her dedication and focus inspired us and taught us about the Barbet’s remarkable working ability, deepening our understanding of the breed’s character.
